Books to Read
Some people do not like reading, but there is a wealth of knowledge in books.
I have learned most of my business skills from books. I did not invent all of my business skills myself, nor did I attend any courses or classes. Everything I know today I thought myself by reading books.
Over the years I have read many books, but on this page I list the most meaningful I have read so far.
For all the books I have read you can go to http://www.businessbooks.co.za . There are many good books listed on that web site but I decided to list on this page only the absolute top books.
I listed the books below in no particular order.
Rich Dad Poor Dad
This little book has been a top seller for many years. If you are working for a boss and you still believe that being employed is the alpha, omega and the only way, then this books is an absolute must. If you consider leaving your job and start your own business I suggest you start by reading “Rich Dad Poor Dad”

The Richest man in Babylon
After reading Rich Dad Poor Dad you must read “The Richest man in Babylon”. It is a short tale and easy to understand. Even if you already run your own business but it feels as if you are working yourself to pieces but do not get anywhere, read “The Richest man in Babylon”. It will change the way you think about business.

The Warren Buffett Way
Some time or other you will feel like jumping in and invest in shares. Some sleazy sales person will try to sell you his share trading software which will tell you what shares to buy and which to sell. The truth is the sales person is the only one making money. They will tell you it is ultra easy, “buy low and sell high”. It is absolute bull and only 1% of investors will make money that way. (also read my comments at www.shareinvest.co.za )
The Warren Buffet Way is a book that will open your eyes to investing. Do not even think of buying and selling shares before you have read this book. It is an absolute must. You might not adapt Mr Buffets ways but it will most certainly open your eyes and help you to differentiate between a good deal and a bad deal. It also teach you about patience.

Steve Jobs
I am not sure why I bought this book. My little voice kept on nagging me until I bought it.
I was blown away!
I have learned so much from having a view into Steve Jobs’ life. I know he was most probably the type of guy I would not do business with, but his passion for his business and product, his desire to build a lasting company, a legacy is absolutely amazing. Actually Apple did so many things wrong but they succeeded because of Job’s reality disorder. If others believed something is not possible he did not except their excuses and forced them to continue and in the end he turned out to be right.
It was hard to put the book down and it resulted in many late nights. It is an excellent read and I think this one can be prescribed for those guys and girls who needs that extra touch in their business to put them ahead of the pack.

Screw It, Let’s Do It: Lessons in Life
I have always been fascinated by Richard Branson . People often use disabilities like dyslexia as an excuse to be not successful. Richard proved to the world that even you are dyslectic you can still make a huge success. You don’t have to use it as an excuse.
He had a more fun way of doing business and I think very much like Steve Jobs, if others said it cant be done, he did it.
