My answer to him was:

Hi Johnathan

Posting on forums helps a lot but then you must only post on forums related to what you are promoted. If you promote gaming on a car web site the people will get cheezed off with you and probably block your account.

Also on a forum do not just promote your product or service. Put your web address in your signature and then participate in the forum, adding value. Give people advice, help them out and make friends. Your signature will do most of the work. If you are a regular contributor and somebody do ask a question specific to your product or service you can refer them to your site and most probably nobody will complain about it. But if you do not participate and post a link you will most probably be branded as spammer.

The Internet evolved from a “nice to have” to a “MUST HAVE” feature in our daily lives.

Especially for businesses it became a must to have your own web site. More and more people turn to the Internet to find information or to search for products. If your business does not have a web site you will be loosing out on a large percentage of potential clients.

It also makes business sense to have your own web site. If your web site has been setup correctly and submitted to the major search engines you will enjoy a great deal of free traffic. That is people who will find your business while they are searching for a product or service and you do not have to pay any advertising fees to get those visitors on your web site. We call this “organic traffic”

I run about 30 web sites and make a living from the Internet. For the past 8 years I never spent more than R100 per month on advertising and during the past 2 months I moved it up to R500 per month because I am launching a new product. Yet I get many visitors each month on my web sites.

Online Forums are very powerful places to advertise your business or product. It does take some of your time to do so but if your business is your passion you will realise that you will enjoy chatting on forums while you are unknowingly promoting your business.

By adding your business URL to your signature you can attract potential clients without even knowing it.

Just like MLM or any other business, Clickbank is not successful, it is you who are either successful or not.

I might be showing my age here but when somebody first suggested I registered for Twitter I went to the site, had a look and emailed the guy back and asked “Join what? There is nothing there!”
Twitter is one of those things I cannot understand. To me it is a web site filled with a bunch of senseless remarks. To me it seems 100% useless. That is why it took me 3 months about a 100 invites before I finally decided to join the damn thing just to get everybody off my back.
