hbiz.co.za scam or not?
Is hbiz.co.za a scam?
The questions has been asked a couple of times by some of my readers. I also saw on another blog and in the forum of a friend of mine that there are concerns about this “business”
I checked it out.
I will not give you the direct link to the site but you can find it at hbiz.co.za which I presume stands for “home business”
The web site offers you a solution for working from home. It claims that you can earn R24,000 after 6 months if you just follow the steps.
At first I wanted to buy the packages like I often do in order to evaluate it. But after spending 30 seconds on this web site I decided that it would be a good R250 wasted. (Or R270 on another page of the site)
It seems as if all they do is sell you a package filled with “Data processing”, “get paid to read emails” and “money from surveys information. The package also contain a whole of of free eBooks which you can get with full resell rights.
Most data processing, surveys and email reading programs are a rip off, some of them like data processing are illegal to advertise in South Africa. You can do a search for “Gazette 29823″ or read it here
At the data entry package I saw this notice on the page where they describe how you will be making money.
You will need a PayPal username to register at PayDotCom. You do not have to register at PayPal as you will have to use our USA based PayPal account. The reason for this is that South African based PayPal accounts can not receive money. The PayPal username you must use is homebizgroup@hbiz.co.za
All your earnings on PayDotCom will be paid to our USA based PayPal account. All you need to do is to email us proof of your earnings on PayDotCom to get paid. Once we have confirmed the payment in our US based PayPal account we will pay the full amount into your South African bank account. NO FEES WILL BE DEDUCTED!
This is quite something. So you will place all the ads and hbiz will get paid for it. It is true that SA based PayPal accounts cannot receive money, but nothing stops the person who signs up to select the “cheque” option at PayDotCom. I have been receiving and depositing US Dollar checques for the past 9 years without problems.
Another concern is that they say “NO FEES WILL BE DEDUCTED!”. Now PayPal takes 3.4% + $0.30 USD per transaction and PayDotCom takes between $1 and $3 per transaction. So if Hbiz receives all these payments and are willing to pay you the full amount without deducting any fees they are either making a loss or do not pay everybody who makes money.
On the Womenatwork.co.za forum it was said that:
They offer supposedly legitimate work at home jobs that you have to pay R270 upfront for for the package, but if you buy it and you realise that you have been had, try and contact them and you never hear from them again. The jobs they offer are supposedly: typing, filling of envelopes, admin work, data entry, surveys etc. Most of what they offer have been made illegal to advertise as legitimate jobs and one can get fined huge amounts of money for contravening this law, but these people are still surviving.
My recommendation to you is to treat this one with gloves. We had more negative reports than positive ones and especially when “Data Processing” is involved it should be a warning signal.
Unless of course if the owner of hbiz can convince me otherwise. Until that time it will remain a “NO-NO” for now.
If you had any experience with Hbiz, please share it in the “comments” section below.

You know what I also got scammed by them. I paid the R290 but then when the package came they wanted me to advertise in the newspaper and they clearly don’t state that in the ad so ya its a big scam. But now i found a real work from home product that realy work, you write emails on just about anything and you get paid doing it. Sounds to me like fun. hbiz is a rip off they take money from poor people
Hi to all. Jip, me and my wife both had been scammed by these so called money makers. Out of stupidity we deposited the amount of R380 for the starter pack, and no response from hbiz. Fortunately we have all the proof and will be taking it further. I was warned never to apply for anything on the web if there is no relevant direct contact number. Luckily for me. now residing in Bloemfontein, I know Potchefstroom quit well. So hbiz, you can be very aware of a visit from me soon. This is a total outrage but will be settled shortly. Enough is enough of this shit. All you hear and read about is scams, scams and more scams. HBIZ, I DARE YOU TO PROOF ME WRONG!!!! Up to now, we had no reply to either your customer care or whatever on mails we have sent.
I had been awarded VIP Membership since 2 years back but theres is no complete responce. I paid and deposited money placed an oder but it was not valid. How is possibly not a scam because to me it is a daylight robberry.
Hi I have registered with Hbiz but I seem to be doing something wrong as I am not getting any where, do you perhaps know of someone living in the Boksburg area who could help me get this right I am not very clued up with this kind of thing. I would appreciate it if you can assist me.
Thank you for the feedback Nosi, I am happy to hear that at least there are some people making money from Hbiz.
I am owning my own small business under Hbiz, and everything is working perfect for me and I personal know their offices and they have the reg number and they got stamp and they did pay me all the money I received from paydotcom and people must understand hbiz doesnt promote working it say Business opportunity and if when you pay the upfront reg fee, need to invest some time in reading all their books they sent you buy post before going online and register with paydotcom.
And if you not happy or change your mind about the whole thing in 30 days you do receive your full amount and they Guarantee you that you would at least make 24000 in 6 months and if that did not happened you can show all your receipts to them and show that you did what they told you to do.
I was also loosing hope but I called them and they did assist me and I made my first sale and in about a month time my sale they were up by 14%. and all those who want to try it they can and you have a 30 day money back guarantee just in case you are not succeeding. And remember every business out there, time was the most important investment the owner has put into that business.
So Neil, you telling me I just wasted R345,00? Shit!!! And I was so looking foreword to moving and working from home. Thanks for your input. Al the best.
any1 can please help me i just wanr to be clear if Hbiz is a scam or not
I worked for them a couple of months, it was the real hbiz awrite
For how long did you do work with them and how many months didnt they pay you? Are you sure it was the real Hbiz and a scammed one?
HBIZ are CROOKS!!! They should be in locked up!!! I had a bad experience with them, they dont want to reward you after u work, they will find every technicality and excuse not to pay u, so please do not consider HBIZ!
Be Motivated Today works well for me. Just use the search box on this blog and you will find some reports on it.
Hi all, does anyone have any feedback on the “BeMotivated” program?
Hbiz is a bunch of crooks, I did their program, actually my wife said I should try it, so I did. These F—ers, I generated a list of about 30 people for them, them they said the site I used to advertise was not supported by them. So they found a way not to pay me. I sent them an SMS using vert colorful language. SO BEWARE HBIZ ARE CROOKS!!!!!!!!!
Hi, does anyone have any info on Elite Home Business Systems?
If Hbiz is a scam why has the company been here since 2001 already peter?
Try Forum Building, Goven Mbeki Drive, Potchefstroom, 2531. Please let me know what happens. Best regards, Lesley
oh, well i heard about hbiz from a frnd and thot it would be great to join and make extra money and be able to repay my student loan but knw m nt so sure about since i read this blog any suggestion on what to do m currently a first year student in it.
The best part is the testimonials where a supposed happy “client” states he was worried this is a scam.
the things they say to rey sucker you.
Luckily I didn’t register as I was retrenched and hoped this would assist me financially. Luckily I have the habit of researching before jumping in
hi
I’ve started with the hbiz program and its a waste of time! It’s really a scam, they are making money… Thanks for your blog Pieter.

No, I do not because I stay far away from any Data Entry Jobs. 99% of them are scams, designed to take your money.

Hi Pieter
Thanks so much for loading your blog! I think you’ve saved me from making a huge mistake.
Still need to do part-time work from home as we’ve battled financially through this recession – but guess I’ll keep on looking & hope something legitimate surfaces soon.
I have just been caught! email: orders@hbiz.co.za

Most so called “data entry jobs” are crap and were designed to take your money.
You can have a look at http://pietpetoors.com/blog/home-typing-job/ , that is for real, it might not be “data entry” but it is where you get paid to type.
Hi pieter
I have joined hbiz only to find out afterwards that they are a scam. I need to earn a second income do you know of any genuine data entry companies in South Africa?
Thanks
@gerrit dude i just call those numbers now and i been tryin to call them since last week. it fukd up and they rippin ppl off and tht pasword shit its just that…. BULLSHIT!!!!!!! TRY IT GUYS THE PASSWORD IS ACCESS AND USER IS DATAENTRY. IF YOU GO THROUGH PLS LET ME KNOW. AND FROM NOW ON I AINT DOIN ANYTHING THT SEEKS MONEY UPFRONT ITS FUCKED UP!!!!
@Dean – there is a list of free ad web sites at http://www.passive-income.co.za/ads but if you advertise Data Entry I bet most of the sites will delete your ads because Data Entry is crap and the advertising sites just delete the ads in order to protect their clients.
the hbiz website login is: dataentry and the password is:access go see the bull they advertise, i wanted to fill in forms not market other companies products and this is all you do! and please if you have a free site to advertise on like gumtree that does not delete your ads tell me about it.
Hi
I have also been part of the Hbiz program for awhile now and have not made money yet. I bought the Survey Estate package for R200 only to find out that I must sell it and then I only earn R40 commission.
I did however stumble upon an online marketing program that is very cheap to join and has a very high payout, it is perfect for people who wants to make money from home.
If you are interested follow this link:

About the Homebiz Group: Their marketing material (website & other)is an excellent example of misrepresentation. What they are actually promoting is affiliate marketing which is a “science” all on it’s own. This is NOT data capturing. Be warned, if there was a top 10 list of scams in SA available, HomeBiz would top the charts!
I have seen many posts on other blogs & forums where people were caught – HomeBiz does not even honor their Money Back Guarantee.
Affiliate marketing, when done the proper way, DOES work big time (it took me a lot of time, money and effort to learn the ropes). Wow, but really there’s much more to it than trying to waste time and money on these free directories you post on.
Touche. I could not have put that more succinctly!
Hi Pieter
Carte Blanche is featuring a story on these scams this Sunday the 16th of May I think, I have seen part of the previews for future stories and might be this Sunday.
I hope everyone can get some answers as I am sure they have been digging deep into these companies to find out the truth
If this does not expose people and warn others if does turn out to be one.
if they cant get answers then who else will be able too..
good luck to all looking for that honest income and not having to be part of scam to scam others.
Christjan I really do not know, that is why I wrote the post so others can give us their opinions. There are many people who complain that they nether got paid and that hbiz nether return their calls. So far I saw one person who reported that she did what they told her to do and she received her money.
What I do not like about them is that they mislead you by saying you will get a “job”. All they do is show you how to place affiliate links on free ad web sites and earn commission on successful sales. That you can do by yourself without paying them the fee.
There are many complaints about it being a scam, and so far one person who said she got paid.
hi is hbiz a scam
I am very VERY upset!! All i wanted to do was earn an income to help support my lady! What is it with South Africans, that we’ve all got to be as rotten as the “govmunt?”
it is a mail they sent me HELL I do not work for them. I am looking for my wife to do at home and on the road I am in constructoin and move a lot so now I am marrid and for hir to move with me whe will have to get a income of not les than R3000 a mounth do you knowe of somthing like data input or sike that(data verwerking)tipe data and send back or sutch
thanks
Pieter hi
this is out of the mouth of data worx from Potch
so now every 1 can see.
basic if your ads do not sell the pruduks u will not get the ” BIG $$” U GOT MY EMAIL if u got tips
Please find a short description of how dataworx works:
For the once of Fee of R270-00 you will receive both part one and part two.
For the online part of Dataworx you are basically going to have to register with paydotcom, and then you are going to promote products at paydotcom. Paydotcom has thousands of products, you do not have to buy the products to promote them you can just click on promote, then paydotcom is going to supply you with a unique link which you will have to advertise on free advertising sites. You then get paid commission once a product you promoted is sold from your unique link you advertised. Thus you will have to promote as many products as you can and advertise the link on as many free advertising sites as you can.
For the online part you also have the option to join the Vip Members for an additional cost of R59-00 a month. As a VIP member you will have access to more products that the normal Dataentry member.
Please note that this is an additional option you do not need to do this to be a Dataentry member.
If you still have some more questions you are welcome to contact us on 0182933439 or 0798793539.
Well basically for the part you complete by hand you will have to place an advertisement in a newspaper to generate names and addresses, then you write them on a data entry sheet and send it to us along with proof of advertisement. You then get paid 0.75 cents per name and address, we then send the names and addresses an order form containing your reference number and if they join with dataworx and we see it is your reference number on the order form you get paid 20% commission of the money they pay us.
Regards
The Homebiz Group
I got asked to look into this hbiz for my mother as they need an extra income. I’m in forensic fraud investigations and just reading the sales papers they sent my mom I got suspicious and thought this might be a scam and bordering illegal. Turns out my gut feeling was right.
“why don’t they get caught?”
Because of the inefficiency of our government organizations. I previously reported two even worse companies who committed bigger crimes to the DTi and they nether lifted a finger. I think they are just there to get a salary, not to do a job. They just pretend to be there to protect the industry.
