How successful is Clickbank?
I received this question from a reader today.
My answer to him was:
Hallo Jaco
Just like MLM or any other business, Clickbank is not successful, it is you who are either successful or not.I guess I can give you a direct answer and tell you that Clickbank are very successful. They have hundreds of thousands of web owners who uses them as payment gateway and millions of affiliates promoting their clients’ products….
But I understand what you are trying to ask.
In the end you are just promoting somebody else’s product using an affiliate facility provided by Clickbank. Whether it is Clickbank, offeforge, Commission Junction, ShareAsale, etc who is doing the tracking does not matter.
Your success will be determined by the effort you put into promoting the products.
Since I started selling my own eBooks I did find that I personally make far more sales than all the affiliates promoting my eBooks. I also make far more sales now than I use to do when I was still promoting other people’s products. I guess this is because you put far more effort, time and money into your own product than somebody else’s product.
I am still doing well as a Clickbank affiliate promoting Forex eBooks and programs.
At a time I did well with Weight Loss and MP3 downloads. But I think somebody must have written an eBook on how to make money on Clickbank and suggested that weight loss ebooks are a hot topic. It seems as if everybody is doing that now and my sales did drop.
The secret is to always look for a new fresh hot niche and milk it while it is hot. Move on to a new niche before the crowd discovers it.
A good way to discover a new hot topic is to keep half an eye on your spam box. I also hate spam and I think most of us wish it could disappear from the face of the earth. But over the past couple of years I “picked up” a number of hit topics from spam. When I see that all of the sudden a lot of people are promoting the same thing, it alerts me. If I check it out and it seems like a good business which makes sense I jump in and promote it as well (before the crowd gathers).
You also asked about the branded eBooks from White Dove books;
I tried that a year or two ago and I did not make a great success from promoting those. One reason could be that the type of person who downloads and read a free eBook from WhiteDove is in the “freebie” mode. Before he will buy an eBook he would rather look for another free eBook.
Or perhaps it was me who was in freebie mode. Perhaps I did not put enough effort into promoting free eBooks. You will however only knowif you try it yourself. It is not to say that if it did not work for me that it will not work for you.

hi pieter it sounds like you are afrikaans. i am. anyway this is good to hear about the clickbank story etc. although i have been trying to get myself involved in this affiliate marketing and (other internet business opp.) for quite some time now but got stuck along the line and just cant get it up and running. (not even mentioning the finances i have put out for this) have mailed people for support and i am just not getting any please could you help me.
