Our Plastic Society

“I’ve learned that possessions
do not determine your wealth
and that plastic credit cards
are “debtrimental” to your health.”
-Linda Ellis

This is so true. I know many people who are very rich but who are not wealthy. In general people have a whole misconception about what wealth is, it is not only the big bank balance or the Lamborghini in the drive way.

And the credit card part of the quote, also very true, ask me, I am one of those suckers.

It kills you.

If you are still young and you are reading this take this bit of advice;

A credit card is wonderful tool if used correctly. It is the most cost effective in terms of transaction fees and Interest (if you clean your outstanding balance every month) BUT very few people can manage it correctly. They fall prey to the banks marketing and promises and once you cannot clear your outstanding balance each month the banks got you where they want you, on your knees and hooked to them. So if you do want to get a credit card go ahead but tell the bank that you only need a facility of R500 and nothing more. They will tell you hundreds of nice stories why they can give you R18,000 instead of R500 but do not fall for that, it is their way to destroy your future.
