We need more like him

South Africa’s politics is probably in the worst state it has been in history. We are ruled by a bunch of greedy clowns who’s only concern is to line their pockets with gold at the cost of their own people. That might not be news to Africa, it is very much Mugabe style.

I received the article below which was written by former Pres. Mbeki’s brother Moeletsi Mbeki. I always wonder why our country can’t be run by wise men like him. Why must we have a guy who was charged with rape and fraud in charge of our lovely country?

If you read the article below it makes you think that there might be a sparkle of light somewhere in the tunnel.

It all boils down to “If you give a man fish, you feed hom for a day, if you teach a man how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime”. I agree with Mr Mbeki that this whole BEE and affirmative action idea created a lazy society who feel that they are entitled to everything without having to think or work.

I can predict when SA’s “Tunisia Day” will arrive. Tunisia Day is when the masses rise against the powers that be, as happened recently in Tunisia. The year will be 2020, give or take a couple of years. The year 2020 is when China estimates that its current minerals-intensive industrialisation phase will be concluded.

For SA, this will mean the African National Congress (ANC) government will have to cut back on social grants, which it uses to placate the black poor and to get their votes. China’s current industrialisation phase has forced up the prices of SA’s minerals, which has enabled the government to finance social welfare programmes.

The ANC inherited a flawed, complex society it barely understood; its tinkerings with it are turning it into an explosive cocktail. The ANC leaders are like a group of children playing with a hand grenade. One day one of them will figure out how to pull out the pin and everyone will be killed.

A famous African liberation movement, the National Liberation Front of Algeria, after tinkering for 30 years, pulled the grenade pin by cancelling an election in 1991 that was won by the opposition Islamic Salvation Front. In the civil war that ensued, 200000 people were killed. … Read more »

Greedy FIFA in it for themselves

Soccer?

It is very frustrating to see what power the mafia FIFA has over South Africa.

Obviously what they do is not to the benefit of the country but to the benefit of their own pockets.

I wonder who in our government received how big bribes to bring the silly soccer to South Africa?

It is said that South Africa so far spent R63 Billion on infrastructure for the world cup soccer, while the country has a huge unemployment figure and people living in shacks and dreadful conditions. With the R63 billion we could provide housing for more than 600,000 families in South Africa. Or we could provide food for a year to 5 million poor people in South Africa.

What upsets me even more is the way FIFA bully and manipulate everybody in the country. I see in this morning’s City Press (sorry, that article has been deleted, try this link) that our country will not even be allowed to charge FIFA tax on most of the revenue they bring in. Thus they will bring the money into the country and take it out with them without South Africa ever seeing a cent of benefit from it.

Here is an excerpt of the article:

A senior government official said: “Fifa are a bunch of thugs. Not even the UN expects you to sign away your tax base. These mafiosos do.” Read more »

Matrics face poor job prospects

Johannesburg – New matric graduates looking for employment face a daunting task as the South African job market remains under pressure.

South Africa’s official unemployment rate is 24.5%, according to Statistics SA, while almost a million workers lost their jobs in the year to end-September 2009.

“Even though there is talk about the end of the recession being in sight, learners need to realise that they have to upgrade their skills base for the South African job market,” said recruitment group Kelly’s executive Denise Thomas.
Excerpt from Fin24.com

I attended a meeting last night where the Western Cape MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism revealed some shocking statistics:
1. Of all the children who go to school in Grade 1, only 60% of them make it all the way to grade 12. The other 40% most likely become a burden to society.

2. Of all the children who go to school in grade 1 only 5% make it to a tertiary education. In Australia 75% of the children make it to a tertiary education.

I know the first thing the majority will do is claim to be previously disadvantaged or put the blame on the previous (15 years ago, what a joke) government.

I my opinion the biggest problem in South Africa is that we adopted a culture of rather blaming everything and everybody around us instead of doing something. It is easier to blame the previous or current government and then sit back and wait for a donation or miracle. It is sad to say but many people in South Africa adopted an entitlement syndrome – “It is the government’s duty to give da job”, “it is the government who must give education”, “It is my parents’ duty to look after me” .

Funny enough just after Mr Windy revealed the stats he also mentioned that the education department did a surprise visit on a school in the Western Cape. Of the 200 Matric students only 19 were in class at 09h00 in the morning. So it is da government’s duty to give me an education and that gives me a license to do whatever I want because it is not my responsibility, it is the education department’s responsibility that I get an education! How is that for prosperous thinking?

It is time that people take  action  and create their own life. Somebody else cannot do it for you.  Waiting for a miracle or waiting for a job to fall from heaven will only keep you poor. I think that waiting for a job in general will keep you poor. Why sit around doing nothing while looking for a job. You might as well start your own money generating web site in the mean while so that you can at least earn something while you wait. Or you can join a MLM business. There are so many possibilities out there.

I receive many emails of people saying “but I do not have any money to start something”.
But I also receive emails from people saying “I washed cars for three days in a row to get money to buy your book or to get involved in MLM”

Why is it that some people will use any excuse they can not to do certain things.

It is your life, it is your future, only YOU can decide what you will achieve.

Great South Africans

Tesla

Every now and then I read something about a great new invention and very often you see that the brain behind it all is a South African brain.  I would like to see how many of the real great inventions and achievements have been made possible by South Africans or ex-South Africans.

If you know of such people please tell us about it.

What also amazes me is that these people often grew up in a small town in South Africa.

PLEASE do not tell us about political achievements, I am only interested in inventions, pioneering work  or great international businesses

Here are some of these I can think off so far:
