TV Bad for your Children
Did you know that you use less brain power to watch TV than to sleep?
No wonder research shows that watching TV has a direct negative influence on your child’s performance at school.
While watching TV you teach your brain to do nothing and when getting back in real live your brain becomes too lazy to do anything.
But hey, I am no child expert, here are some good articles to prove the point:
TV drags down grades
“We found a relationship between watching TV for longer hours on school days and worse school performance,” said study author Dr Iman Sharif, an associate professor of clinical paediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Montefiore and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. “There was an even stronger relationship between kids who could watch R-rated movies or whatever they wanted on TV. TV bad for kids’ health, grades
Early exposure to television is detrimental to children’s health, academic achievement and social development, warned a Canadian study.Researchers found that every additional hour spent watching television at 29 months corresponded to small decreases in classroom engagement, math achievements, and time spent on physical activity in later years. As well, it lead to increases in victimization by classmates, higher consumption of soft drinks and snacks, and more body fat by the time children reached the age of 10, according to the study.
