The farms Laatson and Waterval is only 1Km from
each other. You can drive through the one farm to get to the next
farm. The off-road trails are on the farm Waterval. Waterval also
have chalets, camping sites, hiking trails and of course, waterfalls.
I will show pictures of the camping site later on.
The road from Laatson to Waterval

It has been raining severely for the past week.
Everything was wet and flooded. Seems like this became a custom
now with us. The previous month when we went to Jakkalskloof,
the Western Cape had its most rain in like 20 years. This weekend
it has been raining a lot again and we went camping again.
There are three off-road routes to choose from.
The river route, sand route (playground) and the mountain route.
We decided to go for the river route first and do the rocky trail
the next day.
The first part of the river route is a normal
farm road running through the beautiful green fields.

Then we encountered our first river crossing.
The banks of the river have been washed away. Luckily the leading
vehicle was a 2.4l SFA (Solid Front Axle) Hilux with 33"
Cooper tyres fitted and both front and rear diff-lock. The Hilux
went up the river bank the first time. Then the rest of the pack
followed. Because you had to go down on the ones side, then make
a 90 degree turn to the left and then go up the other side, none
of the other vehicles (accept the trailing vehicle) managed to
get up the river bank on their own. We all tried a couple of times
and then the big Hilux had to tow us out.

Eventually we were all up. The Last Hilux, a
SFA Hilux with 3.0l Cressida engine, rear diff-lock and 33"
tyres, also went through first with the first try.
The photograph below shows the white Hilux that
went first with the two IFS (Independent Front Suspension) Hiluxes
on both sides.
