Various MLM businesses available

On this page I give you my view of some of the MLM businesses available in South Africa at the moment. My intent is not to bad mouth other products or shoot some of them down. You can make a success from any MLM business if you really want to. There are people earning big money in all these companies but still there are also people who never get started and who do not earn a cent. The problem is not with the business model but the with the individual, their motivation, dedication and perhaps also with the support and training from their uplines.

I get many people who tell me that they did not make it in XYZ company because they did not get any support from their uplines. If you want to get into this game you must realize that you design your own destiny. It is not up to others to spoon feed you and make things happen for you. Above mentioned is a very lame excuse. Myself made a success of MLM and nether in the past 8 years did I have an upline who supported me. Only this year I joined a international business and for the first time in 8 years I have an upline who gives me the support one expect to get in a MLM business. So please if you join a MLM business and your upline do not support you, please realize that your success is determined by yourself. You must decide if you are going to let somebody else hold you away from your dreams.

Also keep in mind that MLM is not a get rich quick scheme. You can build long lasting wealth and most of us will do it slowly. But it is definitely worth every second you spend on it. There are people who can join a MLM business and earn R30,000 per month three months later. It is absolutely possible, it have been done many times before and perhaps you are even one of those people who might do it. This is also one of the problems with MLM. Many people get lured into the business of exactly this expectation. If they do not earn R30,000 per month three months later they give up. So rather prepare yourself to build your team slowly at a steady pace and to benefit from it two or three years from now. If it then so happen that you are one of those hot marketers then see it as a huge bonus.

I know there are many people who are sceptical about MLM and who have nasty things to say about MLM but I find it strange that those are always the people who are not involved in MLM at all or who never managed to make a cent from it. So be careful not to take advice from people who obviously do not know what they are talking about. Surely you will not let a heart surgeon operate on you if he's got a repetition for not conducting one successful heart operation ever before in his career?

As i already said, you can make a success from any MLM business. But there are some things that makes some of them just easier than others. There are no set rules for what makes one more successful than the other. It still depends largely on you.

You must have a passion for what you do in order to make it easier for you to make a success. If your religion teaches you that gambling is a sin and I tell you that you can make millions by promoting gambling sites then you might find it hard to make your millions because you are not committed to what you do and you do not feel good about what you are promoting.

You must be proud of the business you promote, you must believe in it, you must have a passion for it. It will help tremendously for you to make a success this way. So the point I try to make is that you must select a MLM business to get involved in which you like.

Then you must look for a business in the financial level you and your friends are. You will find it hard to succeed if you are an attorney and multi millionaire and I get you involved in a little SMS business where you can earn 3cents for each referral. Your friends will laugh at you and you will not feel comfortable to promote such a business. But if I show you a plan where you can refer your clients to buy real estate and you earn R5,000 per deal, it will be more in your market.

You must also compare the ratio between the cost of the business vs. commission you earn. I can show you a business where you can earn up to R16,000 per referral, but then of course it will cost you R60,000 to join the business. You can make a lot of money from it if you have the right market for it, but you will not find many people who are willing to part from R60,000. Then I can show you a business where you can earn only R7 per referral, but the business only costs you R50 per month. You will find that all of the sudden you will be able to sign up hundreds of new clients because it is more affordable and the risk is lower. I currently earn more commission on a monthly basis from a R7 per person business than from one of the R5,000 per referral businesses. So do not overlook those where the commission LOOKS small. It might be small but the numbers ads up and in the end you can earn more from those.

I know many people are furious about the following comment. So please see this as my own personal opinion. You can decide for yourself if it makes sense to you or not. I personally dislikes MLM businesses where I have to sell or promote a physical product like nutritional products, soap, cosmetics, vacuum cleaners etc. There are two simple reasons for this: 1. You limit your market. If I place an ad "Loose fat fast, ask me how" and you are this well build gorgeous girl with strong entrepreneurial skills and very good at sales, would you respond to this ad? No, of course not, you will give it one look and think "I am not fat, I do not need it" But if I place an ad saying "Make more money, ask me how" then I will get 99% of the people in the world respond to it because everybody wants to earn more money. 2. These products are normally over priced. So you will have a difficult time persuading your friends to buy a tube of toothpaste at R60 each or a vacuum cleaner at R12,000 each. My motto for the past 7 years has been "If there is a physical product involved I am not interested".

Here are my comments on some of the networks. My mother taught me that if you cannot say anything good about something then rather do not say anything, so unfortunately there are some of the businesses which I did not add to the list for obvious reasons. The comments are in no particular order, I just added them as they came to mind.

ICI - StratEquity

If you are interested in owning shares then this is the business for you. This business is also very popular. This one is popular not because of its affordability but because of its product. The mother company is StratCorp and they are listed on the ALT-X. StratEquity is one of it's subsidiaries and ICI is the marketing concept they use to market StratEquity's product. They have been going since 2003. They sorted out all their admin problems which are associated with any upcoming and growing business. Their service is excellent and they have offices and presentations all over South Africa. At a minimum of R225 per month you subscribe to their "Wealth Creator Subscription Plan". In short a portion of your monthly investment will be kept in a trust account. Every three to four months they will buy you shares with your accumulated portion. This almost eliminate any risk since you get your money back in the form of a share certificate every 3 to 4 months. So there are no huge amounts of your capital with the company. They buy you shares in some of their investment companies. The Investment company then use the shareholders' money to buy share in blue chip company, Satrix and some other income generating ventures. You can at any tie sell your shares and they guarantee that they will buy back your shares from you. You will receive your funds within 7 to 14 days.

I know you will love the concept and of course you will then want to tell more of your friends about it. You will also get rewarded if some of your friends join. You will earn a once-off R100 bonus plus a monthly percentage of your referrals' monthly contribution up to 5 levels deep.

They do give you an excellent DVD with your starter pack. The DVD contains a full presentation and also a good training session. You do not have to drag people to presentations, you can visit them at their home, drink their tea, eat their biscuits and show them the DVD.

U-Care

This is another amazing business. You subscribe on a monthly basis at a minimum of R125 per month. They do not have a physical product, the donate the money to various charities all over South Africa. Of course they get criticized for using such a business model to raise finds for charity but the fact remains that they donated more than R7.6 million to charity this way over the past two and a half years. I am sure if your own business have not done better than this you do not have any basis to criticize them. They are doing very well and their money goes to where it is needed. The process is well controlled and we can see what difference our money is making. The commission they pay is very good compared to the monthly premium you pay.
